A life-sized scoop of strawberry ice cream sliding across the stage, a tear that never dries and DIY bear dolls: these are just a few of the characters in Miet Warlop’s latest performance. 'Big Bears Cry Too 'is a quest for young and old for the truth of crying, laughing, cruelty and happiness. With 'Big Bears Cry Too' it is the first time Miet translates her visual language - and attitude in dealing with art - for a young audience.
'Big Bears Cry Too' shows that both crying and laughing can cause tears, and that those tears can be your friend or foe. According to Miet, the art of living is to transform those tears into your own source of wellness. In part two of the performance shouting, tickling, sighing, and relief take center stage.
Miet Warlop is a visual artist who lives and works in Ghent, Berlin and Brussels. Miet has been at Vooruit before with 'Mystery Magnet', 'Fruits of Labor' and more recently with the installation 'Tunnels of Thought / Amusement Park'. Since 2017 Miet has also become one of Vooruit's long-term residents.
