Is the European Union falling apart?

Is the European Union on the verge of breaking up? Or are we just moving on to a new European project? In ‘Europa in de herfst’ (Europe in the Fall) Theater Malpertuis puts the growing unrest across the world under the microscope. Seven young actors with diverse backgrounds delve into current events: the refugee flows, the multicultural project under attack, encroaching protectionism and nationalism. For answers to their questions they turn to themselves but also to their (grand) parents. Based on work by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and the primal tragedy Antigone they try to understand 'today'.

After ‘Recht zal zijn wat ik zeg!’ and the poignant ‘GAZ. Pleidooi van een gedoemde moeder’ - seen at Vooruit in 2015 - this is Piet Arfeuilles' third production with a political theme. This time the subject is the very foundations of democracy. A new show with a young generation of actors: the perfect way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Theater Malpertuis.
