Vooruit en het nieuwe mobiliteitsplan

Description

VOORUIT & THE NEW MOBILITY PLAN

What is changing? Starting Monday April, 3rd the city of Ghent is launching its new mobility plan: here you can read an overview of all the reasons why this is being implemented. We applaud the mobility plan because it puts durable mobility on the forefront.

Some things will change for Vooruit as well, especially for those reaching us by car. No worries though: we remain perfectly accessible. Handy maps of the city of Ghent with the new traffic situation will be available at Vooruit soon. The online version is also available on the website of the city of Ghent. Vooruit is located in zone 3 (KROOK),on the border of zone 2 (PORTUS GANDA), and (CENTER). This means we will not be in a pedestrian area, but the St-Pietersnieuwstraat will however be fundamentally altered. The direction will change and the attribution of the street will be (temporarily) adjusted. Below is a list of the most important changes.

More questions? Contact us at info@vooruit.be or stop by our Reception area.

CAN I STILL REACH VOORUIT EASILY?

But of course. Vooruit is easy to reach by public transport or by bike. Good news by the way for cyclists: the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat is being temporarily reorganized, and this includes additional bicycle sheds. And of course, our bike parkingis still accessible.

I’M STILL DRIVING. HOW WILL THAT WORK?

No problem, but you should probably plan your itinerary in advance, by using this handy planner. A major change is that you should follow the inner ring all the way to the Kortrijksepoortstraat, as this will become the only access road through which you can reach Vooruit. Also important: the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat is becoming a one-way street. If you drive through the Josef Platteaustraat, you can only turn right at the end of the street toward Sint-Pietersplein or left toward Vooruit. Traffic leaving the city from Vooruit can only use the Lammerstraat, which will soon be a one-way street. Read the updated, detailed directions here.

CAN I STILL PARK NEAR VOORUIT?

Absolutely. If you want to park on the street, check out the various zones and their respective pay rates. In the red zone - where Vooruit is located - for example, extended parking is not allowed, but it is possible in the orange zone. There is also paying underground parking in the vicinity: Zuid, Savaanstraat and Sint-Pietersplein (long term parking). More about the Circulation Plan – More about the Parking Plan - FAQ
