But let’s be clear about this: we like to know what your interests and preferences are, so we can offer you personalized information and you can enjoy all the site has got to offer.

In order to offer personalized services, we need to make use of cookies. Cookies are small parcels containing information that are placed on your hard drive by the server. When you visit our site again, they will be sent back to the server unchanged. This information is used to verify your identity so you don’t have to enter your username and password every time you visit our site. Our cookies also contain information about your site activities. This is how we find out what your wishes and preferences are. Your IP address, browser type and login details will also be stored in these cookies. You can set your browser so it warns you every time a new cookie is sent, or so it prevents new cookies being made. Please bear in mind that if you refuse to accept cookies, you will not be able to make use of all the site’s options.
The web platform also gathers information in log files (IP address, browser type). This information is used to analyse traffic and profile. This is where information concerning your activities on our site is gathered. These log files are situated on our website’s server.
Our site contains links to other websites or other information.
These links are added by Vooruit and site users, perhaps even by you. Vooruit is aware that it might be held responsible for these links.
The linked sites are not controlled by Vooruit and therefore, we cannot be held responsible for their privacy policy and the way they handle your personal information. We advise you to read the privacy policies of the sites involved.
We will always ask you to check if you are not placing a link to suspicious material or information. Placing a link to illegal material is not tolerated. If Vooruit gets into trouble because of this, we will approach the person who has placed the link and hold him/her responsible.
We would like to point out that we take all measures possible to protect your information from unexpected destruction, accidental loss, deliberate changes or illegitimate access. We use firewalls, make sure that all the information is stored on a safe terminal and use encryption technology to protect your password. We try to stay up to date with the newest in technology and implement it as much as possible.
When you’re a community member, you have your own page. You can write and save texts, upload pictures, stock saved items, manage friends and tags. Other site users can view these pages, which gives them the possibility to add you as a friend.
You can terminate your account at any given time. Other site users will not be able to view your account anymore, but the contents of your pages that were edited by legitimate users by means of comments etc. will not disappear.
We understand that minors are also interested in culture. If you are under age, please ask your parents before giving certain information (e.g. when filling in your profile). We also understand that you like your privacy as well and would rather not ask you parents, but bear in mind that they are responsible for you and can warn you about certain dangers on the Internet. We would like to advise you to use an e-mail address that doesn’t feature your real name but a pseudonym. This applies to your username as well. We are sure you can think of something funny and original! It is also best to avoid giving personal information (e.g. your real name or address).

If you have questions or remarks about any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us via the address stated above.
All parts of the web platform (texts, images, logos, etc.) and the web platform itself fall under the protection of Belgian copyright. In some exceptions to the Belgian copyright law of the 22nd of May 2005 you can use the work of an artist without his/her permission. You can parody a work, cite a work for a review, legally download (reproduce) a work for use in your inner circle, etc. Please bear in mind that strict rules apply to these exceptions. If these rules are not respected, ordinary copyright is applicable and author’s permission is needed.
If you think that you have spotted a violation of copyright on our site, please contact us via misbruik@vooruit.be
Only serious complaints will be taken into account for further investigation.
When you publish your work, this is your responsibility (or that of your parents). Your work cannot contain anything that goes against public order and decency, is discriminating or unacceptable in any other way in a democratic society. The content that users place on the web platform does not in any way reflect the opinion or the advice of Vooruit.
As an author, you can define which rights and licences (e.g. Creative Commons Licences) apply to your work. Other users are obliged to respect these rights.
Vooruit can refuse to publish your work and can remove work from the site.
You can publish your own work (images, music, text, etc.) on our website, but you can also upload work of others.
If you upload work of others, please make sure you ask the permission of the author. Some works are made available by means of Creative Commons Licences. Please make sure you check what the scope of these licences is. It is sometimes prohibited to make changes to the work, which means you can only upload it unaltered. It is also possible that the licence is only valid for private use, which implies that you cannot place the work online, because the net is a public place.
For example:
Make sure you get the necessary permission when you make use of other people’s work and always try to mention the source (the name of the author and, if possible, the title). Beware of uploading illegal copies or linking to illegal material.
When you place an image on the web platform that features another person than yourself, you will need to ask this person’s permission. For example: a friend of yours has opened an account on Flickr showing his holiday pictures. Because you are a good friend of his, you have access to his photo album, which isn’t viewable by other users and thus carries the label ‘private’. To play a joke on your friend, you put a link on your page to one of his pictures, featuring your friend in a rather embarrassing position. By doing this, you are breaking a number of laws (right to privacy, honour and reputation, portrait right, possibly even copyright). In short, you need your friend’s permission. You should also be aware of the fact that you can be persecuted for these actions.
When you use other people’s work, Vooruit cannot be held responsible. Vooruit can refuse to publish material at any time when it becomes clear that the necessary permission has not been obtained. The files you upload cannot contain viruses, show signs of technical errors or harm computers, servers, etc.
Vooruit has set up a complaints procedure for anyone who feels that his or her rights have been violated. A complaints procedure demands a certain level of formality, but Vooruit has chosen to keep the procedure as simple as possible. A standard form for filing a complaint is available on the site. It is important to state on which right your complaint is based. You will be notified within five working days by Vooruit to tell you if your complaint is sustainable. During Vooruit’s annual holiday, the reaction period starts when the holiday ends. You will get a reply 5 days after the end of the holiday.
If your complaint is sustainable, it will be given a complaint number and you will be asked to document the invoked rights. An inquiry will be set up after receiving these documents.
Before a definite conclusion is reached, Vooruit itself will choose whether to remove the information concerned from their website. Vooruit doesn’t recognize an infringement of copyright by this action. Vooruit cannot be blamed for this action.
If the case is based on facts that are liable to prosecution, Vooruit will not only remove the information from its site but will also file a complaint in order to set up a judicial investigation. By taking these steps, Vooruit is simply respecting the law. Throughout the procedure, the person who filed the complaint will be informed of new developments at regular intervals. He is also entitled to ask for a state of affairs at any given moment.
Vooruit will try to round up the investigation within 60 days after its start date.
The final decision and all other correspondence will be sent to the person who filed the complaint on the address stated on the complaint form.
Vooruit’s web platform may contain links to other websites or pages when these pages offer information that is close to Vooruit’s (cultural) interests. Please bear in mind that even if Vooruit posts a link to a website, it doesn’t mean that Vooruit is associated with the people behind these websites, collaborates with them or approves of the content of their websites. Vooruit does not control other people’s sites and their content. Therefore, Vooruit cannot be held responsible for changes on these sites.
Anyone who is offended by these links can use the complaints procedure. Vooruit will acknowledge the information and take further steps if necessary.
These links can be posted for several reasons, except commercial ones. It is not because a link exists that Vooruit is associated with the people behind these websites, collaborates with them or approves of the content of these sites.
Vooruit does not control these sites and therefore cannot be held responsible for changes to them. Anyone who is offended by these links can use the complaints procedure. Vooruit will acknowledge the information and take further steps if necessary.
Do you have your own site and would you like to post a link to Vooruit’s homepage? No problem. However, if you would like to deeplink to a particular part of the web platform, you are kindly requested to ask for permission via info@vooruit.be, so we can check if the deeplink isn’t a violation of agreements reached between Vooruit and third parties.
When you take part in the community forum, you can only send and receive legitimate, non-commercial and personal messages or information.
Hence, the community forum is not a place for active promotion of other events organised by third parties who are not associated with Vooruit.
Treat other users with respect and loyalty and respect their rights. Vooruit wants to create a community where kindred spirits can exchange thoughts in a pleasant way and can discover new things in the fields of art and culture.
You should be aware that another user can add you as a friend and the other way round. Another user (who has chosen you as a friend) can choose to receive notifications from our server when you add new items to your account. You can do the same.
Posting unlawful comments is prohibited. For example:
Vooruit has the right to remove unlawful comments or information that are considered a violation of other people’s rights or Belgian law. Vooruit is not required to motivate or announce this decision. A user who does not keep to the rules set by Vooruit can be removed from the community by the same procedure.
In some cases, Vooruit will ask for your e-mail address and your name. This information can be passed on to police services and court authorities in case of an inquiry into illicit behaviour in chat rooms or on blogs. Vooruit is not responsible for the content of or the activities on the blogs. In case of problems, don’t hesitate to contact us via misbruik@vooruit.be
Information about the location, date and price of the activity can be subject to change. Seat availability cannot be guaranteed.
Vooruit does everything it can to assure that the information you receive is as correct as possible and always up to date. When you book tickets, please check if the information matches.
Therefore, Vooruit cannot be held responsible for incomplete or incorrect information on its website. Vooruit is not responsible for direct or indirect damage, loss of profit or any other damage suffered by users or third parties caused by negligence or forgetfulness in providing, compiling, assembling, writing or interpreting information. Vooruit cannot be held responsible for system crashes or dysfunctions.
Vooruit is aware that it offers a service of the Information Society.
Vooruit is not lawfully required to hold general supervision.
However, Vooruit has taken measures to remove possibly illegal information temporarily or definitely or to make access to this information impossible in case of a complaint. For this to happen, the complaint needs to meet the requirements set by Vooruit’s complaints procedure (cfr. art. 3.3.).
In case of disputes concerning compliance with, validity and application of these Terms of Use, Belgian law applies.
Vooruit has the right to change the Terms of Use at any given time. The changed Terms of Use will be announced on the website and will automatically take effect thirty days after it was first announced.
