De KOE: 30 years later and still at their peak

Theatre company De KOE have long been a fixture of Vooruit’s stages, returning last year with the marathon production ‘De wederopbouw van het Westen: Wit Rood Zwart’. In fact they’ve been at it for 30 years now. Time for a retrospective, then? Or is it too soon? In ‘ACHTER/AF’, Natali Broods, Peter Van den Eede and Willem de Wolf take a look back on their extensive oeuvre, navigating through memories, meanings, songs, old heartaches, motives and future plans.

‘ACHTER/AF’ is a show after the show, a reflection on looking back and forging the path ahead. The piece oscillates between two chords: ‘what’s it all for, anyway?’ and ‘oh yes, I remember now’. A catapult from harsh reality to delirious ecstasy. With one resounding conclusion: after 30 years in the game, De KOE are still at their best.
