A bizarre, painful yet hilarious horror-comedy
On 28 November we’re taking you with us to the NEXT Festival for the new show by Nature Theater of Oklahoma, the New York theatre company that garnered world fame with epic productions such as ‘No Dice’ and ‘Life & Times 1-8’. Theatremaking duo Pavol Liska and Kelly Copper are going back to basics and working with a group of ‘non-actors’.
For two years they collaborated with EnKnapGroup, an international dance company from Ljubljana who will be delivering text on stage for the first time. Together they have created a bizarre, painful and hilarious comedy based on the American expansion to the Wild West – and all the violence that went along with it.
According to the United States’ Declaration of Independence, the pursuit of happiness is one of the three unalienable rights to which everyone is entitled by birth. But what is happiness? In which dark and remote corners do we have to go individually and collectively in order to find it? Might it be found, as surprising and inappropriate as it may seem, in the finale of a Hollywood blockbuster?
