Between 1965 and 1975 there was a widespread movement in experimental and contemporary classical music to leave the concert hall and perform in public places. To revive this praxis of public interventions, the musicians of GAME (Ghent Advanced Master Ensemble) will create in-situ performances in and around the site of De Krook. With an average of 4000 visitors a day, representing a wide cross-section of the urban society of Ghent, this public building is particularly suited to comply with the ideas of May ’68 in contemporary art. GAME will perform compositions of, among others, Frederic Rzewski, Alvin Lucier, Louis Andriessen and John Luther Adams.
GAME consists of highly trained musicians participating at the advanced master programme for contemporary music at KASK / Royal Conservatory of Ghent.
