Wolf Eyes Music Residency Series 2018: a twenty year journey of art and sound.
Expect two days of absolute mayhem at Gouvernement; experimental noise ensemble Wolf Eyes invites old and new friends to join them on stage alongside almost every solo and duo set-up they can cram into two evenings worth of time.
Wolf Eyes Music 2018 Residency Series will be primarily performed by the musical duo of Nate Young and John Olson in collaboration with local performance artists and unique musicians. In 2017 Wolf Eyes Music did residencies in San Fracsisco, Los Angeles and New York City.
In their own words: "The goal of the residency series is to break free of the music industry touring cycle and be able to experiment with new techniques and explore new artistic relationships with little or no time limits. In 2018 we hope to bring this series to many more cities and expand on Wolf Eyes Music. Always forward never backwards."
During their stay at Gouvernement on April 6th and 7th Wolf Eyes plans to play several sets with friends and as Nate Young, Henry and Hazel Slaughter, Regression, John Olson, Spykes and Wolf Eyes 2004 ( from a parallel universe where Wolf Eyes remained a duo after 2004). Olson also promises to read from his acclaimed book 'Life Is A Rip Off'. Names of collaborators will be added soon.
Fun fact: Wolf Eyes has released 297 recordings on every medium possible. Collaborated with roughly 30 different musicians from literally all over the planet and continues to release at minimum 1 studio album a year since 1998. Official releases have appeared on labels including but not limited to Hanson Records, Bulb Records, American Tapes, Fusetron, De Stijl Records, Sub Pop, Troubleman Unlimited, AA Records, Gods of Tundra, Freedom From, and Hospital Productions. Wolf Eyes' first two major tours were with Sonic Youth and Andrew W.K. They have collaborated with Anthony Braxton, Black Dice, Double Leopards, John Wiese, Mammal, Prurient, and Smegma.
That’s not even adding the solo, duo, and trios that John Olson and Nate Young have done on their own.
Wolf Eyes Music is an institution.; call 'em crazy and lock 'em up, but they will never stop.
