“Deeply moving political pamphlet” - Trouw
At the age of 23, American student Rachel Corrie went to the Gaza Strip to help Palestinian civilians in the conflict with Israel. In Rafah, while standing as a human shield in front of a house the Israeli army wanted to destroy, she was run over by a bulldozer. According to the military, it was an accident - bystanders thought otherwise.
The stage adaptation 'My name is Rachel Corrie' by British actor Alan Rickman and playwright Katherine Viner is based on Rachel's diaries and correspondence. The piece caused quite some commotion in the Anglo-Saxon world because of its political overtones and pronounced stance. In her new performance, Laura van Dolron highlights the different sides of Corrie's story.
