Ritual, sacrifice, death and rebirth from unlikely collaborators
dance / theater / performance / #gastcurator
Vooruit invites Beyond the Spoken (Barbara Raes), a workspace for unacknowledged loss, and post-metal band Amenra, to create together a program around ritual, which is at the heart of their respective projects: death, sacrifice, departures and loss will be at the center of this exciting journey.
While the collaboration currently develops, we have set up a couple projects as a starting point for the program that will be announced later this year. Meg Stuart and her company Damaged Goods have joined forces with Indonesian visual artist Jompet Kuswidananto to create, together with two musicians and three performers, ‘Celestial Sorrow’, an exploratory journey into possession and implanted fictional traumas. Acclaimed French director Gisèle Vienne brings her hit performance ‘Jerk’ to Ghent, an imaginary reconstruction – strange, poetic, funny and somber – of the crimes perpetrated by American serial killer Dean Corll.
We invite you to come and discover the beauty of darkness! Full program soon, here on vooruit.be.
