The finalised European project 'Départs, Practices for an Integrated Development of European Contemporary Dance’ (which has run from 2009 till 2014) is selected as a "success story" by a panel of experts at the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission because the project has "distinguished itself by its impact, contribution to policy-making, innovative results and/or creative approach". The European Commission labels the project as a source of inspiration for others.
"Départs aimed to contribute to the development of contemporary dance in Europe by building bridges between non-official training programmes and the professional art world; it offered training, creation and presentation opportunities to talented young European dancers and choreographers from all regional and social backgrounds. Départs gave young artists access to advanced training facilities and supported them to step into the professional art world. Activities included festivals, workshops, scholarships, summer studios, research, auditions."
Leading partner P.A.R.T.S., Vooruit Arts Centre and the other partners in Départs, most of whom are still collaborating in its successor project [DNA] Departures and Arrivals, are proud of this nomination, and grateful for the support of the European Commission to the professional development of young dance artists.
