“How can we fail together?” is the question collective Lou Grevenstorff asked the company C&H – that you might remember from‘The Nickelodeon’ and ‘Postcards from the future’. The troupes each have their own background and approach, but are both interested in the failure of art. That’s why they decided to embark on the collective project ‘We have no choice’. C&H provided the setting of the film, while Lou Grevenstorff picked the subject, i.e. “failed attempts to end the unbearable”.
For 3 years the artists studied the conscious or unconscious urge or impulse that incites us to get up, to go to work, to have sex, to be someone. The result is the film ‘We have no choice’, which wants to show this inexplicable urge as a collective wound which we have to learn to live with. But the show is more than a film alone.
