New York native Gabe Levine founded Takka Takka in 1999. But it was only seven years later that the band took on the form it still has today – although the lineup still changes from time to tome. These self-proclaimed music nerds count Clap Your Hands Say Yeah among their friends, but even so, they stress the musical differences. Takka Takka stands for dreamy, yet dark indie pop. Levine approaches the band’s songs as paintings, starting out from a sketch, and then gradually adds colour.
New York Magazine described them as one of the “hip new bands that virtually no one else has heard of yet.” Time to make yourself acquainted with Takka Takka!
