In the war on terror and crime, several measures have been taken in the past years that infringe on the privacy of citizens. Take the collecting of telecommunication data for example (check out www.bewaarjeprivacy.be), or fingerprints in new biometric passports, the exchange of passenger information between airlines, security cameras everywhere, etc.
The right to privacy is an inalienable human right that can only be limited if absolutely necessary. The Belgian League for Human Rights has made a list of organizations that currently do not respect the right to privacy.

With:

  • Johny Vansevenant (Radio 1, moderator)
  • Willem Debeuckelaere (head of the Privacy Commission)
  • Jos Vander Velpen (President of the Belgian League for Human Rights)
  • Walter Van Steenbrugge (lawyer)
  • Luc Beirens (Federal Computer Crime Unit)
