The Student Kick-Off is the largest free student party of the year.
Come to Vooruit and enjoy our student programme!

Cirq Fun

6 p.m. Vooruit Café

From 6 p.m. students are welcome at the Vooruit Café where the goofy CIRQ guys (known for their performance at Batakamp during the Gentse Feesten) will start the party. With fabulous DJ couple Marcel & Vicky, a totally illegal and thrilling slug race, an appearance by Mr Grégoire, the Human Jackpot and more.

Uitgelezen for students
With An Lemmens, Gunter Lamoot, Lotte Pinoy and Intergalactic Lovers

7.30 p.m. & 21.00 p.m. Balzaal

Think books are boring? Think again, because An Lemmens, Gunter Lamoot and Lotte Pinoy make reading sexy! Together with Uitgelezen panel member Jos Geysels and presenter Fien Sabbe they will discuss new novels by Dimitri Verhulst and Henning Mankell, and present their favourite novels. Intergalactic Lovers will provide the tunes. A book programme like you’ve never seen one before, with a shot of rock and roll and a book raffle!

The best music documentaries

8 p.m. & 10 p.m.

Koen Gisen, Vooruit’s pop and rock programmer, selected two great music documentaries for Vooruit. Watch the trailers in the player at the top of this page.

Michael Moore thought ‘The Story of Anvil’ was the best documentary he ever saw. Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth have become staples of the metal genre, but Anvil never achieved mainstream success. But Anvil still believes that success will be theirs one day. They’re pinning their hopes on their thirteenth album ‘This is Thirteen’.

On/Off tells the story of The Pop Group’s Mark Stewart, featuring interviews with Mark Stewart himself, Adrian Sherwood, Daniel Miller (Mute), Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Douglas Hart (The Jesus & Mary Chain), Jon Spencer, and lots of live material.

Student Kick-Off Deluxe!

11 p.m. Balzaal & Concertzaal

Party with TLP, Stijn, Les Mecs Ecletics, Cosy Mozzy, Ed & Kim, Fredo & Thang, Dimster vs Steff and Pulp Mixion.
