When you hear songs from your childhood, it often brings back sweet memories. British electronica artist Mira Calix, visual artist Boris van der Avoort and Brussels band Octurn join forces for the project ‘Melodies from my mother’s knees’. They dust off nursery rhymes, childhood songs and lullabies from different cultures and languages. The collective doesn’t simply offer a nostalgic trip down memory lane, but presents refreshing versions of the songs in a surprising mix of jazz, electronica and ambient. The poetic and abstract visuals by Boris van der Avoort take you on a colourful trip to past and future.
