A man lies down. Is he asleep? Is he ill? Is he trying to meditate? Has he just finished something or is he trying to start something new? Is he looking for peace or is he wallowing in sadness? Is he dreaming about life in another country? Is he looking for new words? While his breathing slows down, he gets sucked into the twilight zone between dream and reality, past and future.

De Zaak is a new performance by director Piet Arfeuille, inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, in which two dancers will share the stage: Finnish Veli Lehtoovara and Swedish Marcus Baldemar.

‘De Zaak’ is a story about dying and being reborn, about the quest for what makes life worthwile.

As a child, Piet Artefeuille was destined to play the piano, but after a dispute with his teacher, he decided to try his hand at the theatre. As a director he often adapts classic pieces for a young audience, regularly combining theatre with other media. In ‘De Zaak’ Artefeuille wants words and images to coalesce in a piece performed by two dancers. Piet Artefeuille succeeded Bob De Moor as the artistic director of Theater Malpertuis in 2010.
