How can you communicate without talking? Choreographer Benoît Lachambre is interested in finding other ways of interacting. Because without words, we can come much closer to ourselves and others than we think. By bypassing language and depending on our body to communicate, we move towards our organic essence, the core of our being. Lachambre wishes to set free emotions in the form of chanting, unintelligible sounds, and words ridden of their meaning.

~O oui ~ is a duet Lachambre wrote for dancer Annik Hamel and singer Céline Bonnier. The score is by Hahn Rowe, with whom Lachambre previously worked for his performance ‘Is You Me’ with dancer Louise Lecavalier. Rowe and Lachambre were awarded a Bessie award – one of the highest honours in dance – for ‘Forgeries, Love and Other Matters’ which they created with Meg Stuart.
