Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker continues to explore new ways to combine dance and music. Last year she used Beatles songs in ‘The Song’ and a composition by Mahler for ‘3Abschied’. This season, she will focus on the Ars Subtilior, a 14th century music style characterized by dissonance and polyphony. The confusion and decline of that age, in which people were confronted with the plague and social turmoil, seems more relevant than ever. Confused by the endless possibilities offered to us and disrupted by the elusiveness of the things that happen to us, we fall back on our only certainties: our body and mortality. Visual artist Michel François will design a fitting set.
