“Music for serious folk? Yeah. But the type that likes cartoon gags, chases and Monty Phyton.” – Focus Knack
With their intimate and slightly rowdy signature style, the RadioKUKAorkest is a chamber jazz ensemble like you’ve never seen before. New York tenor saxophone player Ellery Eskelin is one of the best improvisation musicians of the moment. A meeting between the two will be very special indeed.
KUKA’s music is not easily categorized, but it’s a textbook example of the contemporary desire to combine several genres. World music, classical music and pop are combined to create catchy rhythms and new, unknown sound universes. Music site Kwadratuur described saxophone player Ellery Eskelin as “one of the best of his generation. What Picasso did with painting is not very different to what Eskelin is doing with music. Deconstructing and reconstructing into a seemingly abnormal composition that takes your breath away. Through the years, Eskelin has developed an amazing individual style.”
