After playing in the Miles Davis Band in the late sixties, the extraordinary bass player Dave Holland became a big name in jazz. He was a sideman in several bands, working with Ben Webster, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter before focusing on composing and starting his own band. By now, he has contributed to about 200 albums and has been nominated in the Acoustic Bass category of the Down Beat Critic Poll for three successive years. Live, the Dave Holland Quintet is synonymous with amazing solos and energetic improvisations.
