NICOLAS KUMMERT - VOICES
Voices focuses on – you guessed it – human voices. Great voices, might we add. Nicolas Kummert (Yves Peeters Group and Groove Thing with Jef Neve), Hervé Samb and Nicolas Thys (Octurn and Brussels Jazz Orchestra) sing themselves or recite Jacques Prévert, and other authors. It makes their music exciting, yet surprisingly accessible. But Voices is a lot more than just a collection of catchy tunes. You’ll hear bursts of fusion, chanson, pop and jazz. Hypnotising melodies and rhythms remind us that Africa is never far away in the wonderful world of Nicolas Kummert. It makes Voices one of the most sensational crossover bands from Belgium since the power trio Aka Moon.
Nicolas Kummert is a phenomenally talented jazz artist. He plays the saxophone with the velvet power of Joe Lovano and sings with the fragile timbre of a young Chet Baker. In 2003 he received the Django d’Or for Young Talent at age 23.
VIKTOR TÓTH TERCETT FEAT. HAMID DRAKE
Talented saxophone player Viktor Tóth is a rising star in his native Hungary. He has developed his own style, which is heavily indebted to traditional Hungarian music. The Viktor Tóth Trio combines elements from Hungarian folk with jazz and African and Latin influences. A unique melting pot of styles. And with Hamid Drake on drums, it’s sure to be one hell of a party!
