Goran Bregovic, the man who introduced Balkan and Gypsy music to a wide audience, will turn 60 this year. This event will be celebrated with a concert in Ghent. His last gig on Belgian soil took place in the Bozar in 2007.
Goran Bregovic is one of the most renowned contemporary composers from the Balkans. He wrote the score for films such as 1988’s‘Time of the Gypsies’ and ‘Arizona Dream’ in 1993. Since 1998, Goran Bregovic has been touring with his Weddings and Funerals Orchestra. 2008 saw the release of his latest album, ‘Alcohol’, which he will be presenting in Belgium at this concert.
The supporting act will be the Dutch band Mala Vita (with members hailing from Serbia, Bosnia, and the Netherlands) that plays catchy punk polka, ska and reggae.
