Q: Where did Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon learn to play? A: With his former band DeYarmond Edison. When Vernon decided to pursue his solo career, the remaining band members opted for a name change: Megafaun was born.

In 2009, the brothers Brad and Phil Cook and their companion Joe Westerlund released ‘Gather, Form & Fly’, an album which was often quoted as one of the top 10 albums of the year (by Studio Brussel’s Duyster, for example). Banjos, folk guitars and vocal harmonies that never become tired, with plenty of room for experimentation.

“Megafaun shares its love for vocal harmonies with bands like My Morning Jacket and Fleet Foxes (…). It all sounds very authentic, but we are most charmed by the tender ‘Kaufman’s ballad’, in which they perform beautiful vocals accompanied by refined strumming on the banjo.”
