On New Year’s Eve 2006, Jools Holland had a peculiar guest on his annual Hootenanny BBC TV show. In his signature overall and his long grey beard, Seasick Steve stirred up something of a revolution with his Mississippi Drum Machine and his Three String Trance Wonder. The old bluesman – who prefers to be called ‘a song and dance man’ – became a household name in just three minutes. At that time, Steve Wold – his real name – had been making music for 50 years, mostly as a busker. He recorded his first album at age 63, won the MOJO Award for Best Breaktrough at age 66, and performed at the Belgian music festival Rock Werchter for the first time at age 68. His new album, ‘Man From Another Time’ was released on the 19th of October 2009.
