Drummer Teun Verbruggen’s Rat Records label released The Black Napkins’ debut album in September. In the Netherlands, their home country, they are praised for their “daring phantasmagoria of sounds and ideas, that is sometimes lyrical, alienating at others, but always intense.” – The Jury of The Young VIPs Tour 2009.

The duo Knalpot – meaning exhaust pipe in Dutch – couldn’t have chosen a better name: their powerful improv jazz bubbles and bursts in all directions.
