While waiting for his girlfriend in a London flat, surrounded by people he didn’t want to talk to, Alessio Natalizia started experimenting with a music programme on his computer. Not much later, Banjo Freakout was born. The Italian Londoner soon released a few singles and an EP, covered Burial’s hit Archangel with an added Joy Division sample and made a remix for Bloc Party!

Banjo Or Freakout lists Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Sonic Youth and Burial’s dubstep as his influences. How this sounds? As eclectic as you might expect: a sultry mix of electronica, ambient, shoegaze and rock from Animal Collective to Can. Anything but banjos…
