Pianist/composer Jef Neve has been regarded the wonder boy of Flemish jazz for years. After previously composing the score for Felix Van Groeningen’s film Dagen Zonder Lief (With Friends Like These), the director asked him to do the same for his new film De Helaasheid der Dingen (The Misfortunates), which will open the Ghent Film Festival.
Together with Teun Verbruggen on the drums and Piet Verbist on the double bass, pianist Jef Neve forms the Jef Neve Trio, which released its third album, ‘Soul in pictures’ last year. The Guardian called it “an excellent album” by a “pianist par excellence”.
