In Massis the Musical (2003), Johan Heldenbergh vents his anger at the party that “does not want the best for Flanders”. With the creation of he Broken Circle Breakdown feat. The Cover Ups of Alabama he seeks to make a similar statement. Under the motto ‘Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys’ the company denounces the bad reputation of country music. In the US it is the music of choice for white people who think they are superior to other racial groups. But the truth is that country is a melting pot of influences and cultures. All the more reason for Compagnie Cecilia to put together a fantastic country band. Get ready for a mix of drama & country giving ample attention to the genre’s multicultural roots.
