HAUSCHKA
Hauschka provides a choreography for a subtle mating dance between piano and electronica. He performs beautiful compositions in which melancholy piano notes and strings are juxtaposed with dynamic electronic soundscapes, placing him neatly between Johan Jóhansson and John Cage. This German musician also specializes in playing the ‘prepared piano’, a piano he edits and distorts with pieces of paper, bottle caps and other small objects. It goes without saying that his concerts are a feast for the eyes and the ears!
KARTASAN
A Flemish Antony? Jan Vandecasteele’s vocals come pretty close. His versatile voice is Kartasan’s biggest quality. The band is still relatively unknown, but believe us, not for long. Vandecasteele’s contributions range from rough to fragile, reminiscent of Patrick Watson or the abovementioned Antony Hegarty. On stage, he is backed by musicians from Sioen and Members of Marvelas. Their songs float between rock and jazz, while never becoming predictable, thanks to their clever structure. At Vooruit, Kartasan will present their debut album, Another profile.
