French band M83 started out as a duo inspired by Brian Eno and electronica bands such as Air and Four Tet. Now the solo project o f Anthony Gonzalez, M83 has a wider musical range than ever before. Synthesizers still take centre stage, but experiments with eighties pop and rock make for a wholly original and unique sound.

Their latest album Saturday = Youth (recorded with the producer of Sugarcubes, Cocteau Twins and Sigur Rós) was named one of the essential albums of 2008 by Belgian radio show Duyster. The album also got them tour dates with Kings of Leon, The Killers and Depeche Mode. M83 is definitely on a roll, so take this chance to see them live!

Young Belgian band Yuko strikes a balance between subtle post-rock and crackling electronica. With their debut album For Times When Ears Are Sore, released last year on the Belgian Debonair label and produced by Wixel, the band fronted by Ghent-based Kristof Deneijs convinced friend and foe. They describe their own music as follows: “smells of just-left beds, trains and what’s on their way, stomach aches and coffee stains on sunbleached tablecloths” How this sounds? See for yourself at the this concert at Vooruit!
