At 33, dancer Charlotte Vanden Eynde already has a rich and diverse career behind her. She has directed her own pieces, such as Benenwerk and MAP ME, danced with Marc Vanrunxt, performed a duet with Ugo Dehaes, played the lead in the film Meisje, worked with dramatist Jan Decorte and created the gripping video installation Baby. The past years Vanden Eynde has mainly been working behind the scenes, but now she has decided to perform again. With I’m Sorry It’s (Not) A Story she made a solo for herself, which also features a prominent video projection. Vanden Eynde deconstructs herself, only to pick up the pieces again. In the process, she turns purely personal issues into universally recognizable questions about identity and self-consciousness.
“I want to put myself under a looking glass, as a person and an individual, and then make a drawing of what I see or, perhaps, don’t see.”
