“Great concert… top class.” Reviews of the 2007 concert by saxofonist Fabrizio Cassol (Aka Moon) and his VSPRS-orchestra in Vooruit were full of praise. At this concert he performed a version of Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine for the dance show VSPRS by Alain Platel and Les Ballets C. de la B. A year later he got to work on Bach’s St Matthew Passion for Platel’s piece Pitié. Cassol enriched Bach’s composition with vibrant jazz structures and even Latin influences. At Vooruit he will perform this emotional piece with a host of top musicians, such as French flute player Magic Malik and violinist Tcha Limberger and the magical voices of Serge Kakudji and Cristina Zavalloni. Because even without the choreography, Pitié remains a masterpiece “of almost staggering beauty.” (Kwadratuur.be)
