With Dans Les Arbres two Huntsville members show their minimalist side. The intense soundscapes and compelling compositions of this French-Norwegian quartet shift between jazz, contemporary classical music and ambient. The four of them explore the possibilities of acoustic sounds and sonorous textures, creating a unique sound universe on their 2008 debut album (out on ECM), which duly impressed renowned music mag The Wire: “A first listen revealed that this disc clearly belongs in the ‘unclassified’ category. With a second listen, it was obvious that it’s a most extraordinary and compelling achievement. There’s no end to the delights of this quite magical disc.”
