Pianiste Myra Melford previously performed at Vooruit with saxophone player Marty Ehrlich (2006) and the Myra Melford Trio during Brand New York (1990), a project by Vooruit and The Knitting Factory, the renowned New York music club. Her new trio, featuring bass player Mark Dresser (Tim Berne, Dave Douglas, Satoko Fujii) and drummer Matt Wilson (Either/Orchestra, The Herbie Nichols Project, with Ben Alisson and others) unites three strong musical personalities who push each other’s music to new heights. All Music Guide wrote the following about their concerts: “ The performances are consistently unpredictable, drawing upon much of jazz history of the past 40 years while creating new and fresh music.
