NOTE: Igor Shysko, the dancer who was going to perform Extraction, is injured and therefore cannot perform at Vooruit. This has led choreographer Marc Vanrunxt to replace Extraction with Deutsche Angst, an older solo dance performance. Lamentatio, will be performed by Marie Decorte as originally announced.
Marc Vanrunxt created the solo performance Deutsche Angst for the 2005 Festival d’Avignon. The choreography was made especially for Etienne Guillotteau, in collaboration with visual artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer and with live music by Champ d’Action’s percussionist Fedor Teunisse. His rhythmic composition and Guilloteau’s athletic body are completely in sync. The dancer, dressed in an orange Maison Martin Margiela gown, veers between raw energy and fragile elegance.
Repetition and change are also central to Lamentatio, written especially for dancer Marie De Corte. The short, simple choreography set to Penderecki’s Dies Irae illustrates a cycle of loss, contemplation and rebirth. Vooruit is one of the few locations where both solos will be shown together.
