A table with high-heeled woman’s legs instead of ordinary table legs, walking fuse boxes, you name it.
In Miet Warlop’s wordless performance the strangest objects take centre stage. What seems a bizarre tableau vivant at first slowly comes to life as the bizarre creatures – half man, half thing – start crawling across the stage. The poetic and moving Springville takes you on a trip to a small, fascinating universe full of surrealistic characters. Miet Warlop, who won the prize for Jong Theater (Young Theatre) at 2004’s Theater aan Zee (Theatre by the Sea), is a driven multi-talented artist. Not only does she create dance shows, plays and performance art in public spaces, she is also a visual artist. It is no surprise then that her stage work is always visually attractive and rich in images.
