Ice Cube is one of the most prominent figures of West Coast hip-hop. He shot to fame in the eighties as a member of the N.W.A. (Niggaz with Attitude, together with Dr. Dre and Eazy E.). Ice Cube was responsible for most of the band’s socially conscious lyrics, but left the N.W.A. after a conflict with Eazy E.

In 1990 Ice Cube released his first, and instantly successful, solo album AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted. Subsequent albums Kill at Will, Death Certificate, The Predator, Lethal Injection and singles Wicked, Check Yo Self, Bop Gun and You Know How We Do It earned him the title of pioneer. His most recent album, Raw Footage, remains highly political. Only last year Ice Cube performed a powerful concert at Dour. In the past years, Ice Cube has become more renowned for his acting than his music, but the billionaire will always stay a hip-hop artist in heart and soul.
