Mocky traded his hometown Toronto for Berlin, where he made friends with Jamie Lidell, Gonzales and Feist. He produced their albums, but also impressed friend and foe with his solo albums, thanks to his refreshing and witty mix of electro, hip hop and lo-fi funk.
A musical chameleon, Mocky likes to colour outside the lines of electronic music. His latest album, Saskamodie (on Crammed!) is – believe it or not – an acoustic jazz recording, mainly consisting of instrumental tracks, and was recorded at the Ferber studios in Paris, following the example of Nina Simone and Serge Gainsbourg. Taylor Savvy, Gonzales, Jamie Lidell and Feist provided backing vocals and instrumental contributions.
