Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Don Cherry, Ornette Coleman, Charlie Haden, Sonny Rollins, Chet Baker, Coleman Hawkins. These are just a few of the big names piano legend Paul Bley has performed or recorded with. The Canadian pianist has been a monument on the jazz scene for almost 50 years.
Not only is Bley a virtuoso on the piano, he was also one of the pioneers on the Moog organ in the sixties. Back then, he wasn’t afraid to expand his musical palette with electronic touches and innovating sounds. On his more recent albums, he has decided to focus on his performance on the piano once again, which is widely perceived as “pure beauty”.
