According to French artists Antoine Defoort and Halory Goerger “&&&&& & &&& is the performance Bill Gates could have made for his mother’s birthday at age nine”. But what the viewer will see is mostly an illustration of Defoort and Groeger’s crazy and absurd world views. They take you to an idyllic place not unlike a low budget Star Trek set where objects get a whole new purpose. Here they make music with inflatable dolphins, computer keyboards and plants.
&&&&& & &&& is more than a performance, it is also an installation, exhibit and stand-up comedy in one. On top of that, it has no beginning or end, but what you get instead is a repeated succession of scenes and installations that each last about half an hour, forming a whole of three hours. During this three-hour loop, the audience can join in at any moment.
Antoine Defoort is a video artist and performer from Lille. His amusing work displays a playful and refreshing take on everyday life. He makes witty short videos, two of which you will be able to watch at the game is up exhibition. In La Fusée (2005) he takes his car on a trip through earth’s different layers. In Le Vent dans les Cheveux (2005) he finds proof for earth’s rotation.
Artist Halory Goerger’s installations and performances bring you small-scale spectacle. He flirts with the tension between absolute freedom and a fixed form.
