Fans of new folk in the style of Fleet Foxes, Bright Eyes and especially Devendra Banhart, will love Vetiver. Even though their music is often labelled as freak folk, their songs remain warm and accessible.

2008 saw the release of their third album, Thing of the Past, a cover album featuring songs by Loudon Wainwright III and Townes Van Zandt. Kindamuzik reckons that the album “sounds remarkably fresh and upbeat, thanks to the combination of Cabic’s soft vocals – at their sweetest and most beautiful in ‘Road to Ronderlin’ – and the band’s poppy approach to folk and country.”
