Yildiz Ibrahimova, a Bulgarian singer with Turkish roots, is a true vocal artist with an impressive four-octave range. For the Balkan Jazz project she’ll work with Turkish clarinettist Serkan Çari. Together with a number of talented musicians they’ll explore traditional music from the Balkans to Anatolia. They’ll perform romantic gypsy songs and Eastern European folk songs. They blend these authentic ethnic rhythms with contemporary jazz, classical music and avant-garde, leaving room for delicate passages as well as lively improvisations. On top of that, Çari shows his skills on the Chalumeau, a baroque predecessor of the clarinet. Their tour in Germany received standing ovations and rave reviews.
