Lady Saw is one of the few women who have managed to hold her own on the male-oriented reggae scene. Since her 1993 debut she has proved that her songs and act can easily stand comparison with her male counterparts, making her the first female deejay to win a Grammy. She has worked with big names such as Capleton, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Beenieman, Sean Paul, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, Shaggy and Sly & Robbie. Lady Saw first garnered attention for her sexually explicit lyrics and live act. Now Saw has become somewhat more respectable and is called Murna Saw, as she is seen as a role model for many of the female artists who have followed in her footsteps. She will release her new album, Walk Out, in April 2009.
On the sixteenth of April she wil get the charming company of Selah Sue, Leuven’s own “Queen of Pop-Reggae”! The impressively long list of concerts on her MySpace indicate that she’s on the verge of a breakthrough.
