Swiss singer Sina’s career was jumpstarted when she won the Oberwalliser Schlagerfestival at just 17 with her rendition of The House of the Rising Sun. Not only did this lead to concerts in Switzerland and abroad, she also landed the lead role in the musicals Annie Get Your Gun and Jesus Christ Superstar. Her albums, recorded in the Swiss-German dialect, went gold and platinum in her home country. Since 2000 she has been working regularly with American-Swiss singer and yodeller Erica Stucky. If you saw her live at Almost Cinema, you’ll know that Stucky doesn’t stick to folklore, but likes to perform unique versions of songs by Queen, Nancy Sinatra and Marvin Gaye. She is usually accompanied by alphorns and brass live, but it’s her weird and wonderful stage personality that makes her concerts worth your while.
