Alto sax player Lander Van den Noortgate and drummer Frederik Meulyzer started a quintet in African bar in Antwerp Kilimanjaro and that resounds in their music: sultry, enchanting and rhythmic compositions full of surprises. Wherever and whenever this band plays, there’s a great party; and even if their music veers towards the abstract sometimes, they always make sure to return to a level that the audience can connect to in time. In May 2007 these 5 adventurers won the Motives For Jazz competition, and a few months later they recorded their first EP. They are inspired by Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter, Keith Jarrett and the unique voices of the musicians that have joined their quintet.
