The Minderhedenforum, a collaboration between national immigrant federations, and Vooruit present an evening on intercultural comedy on TV. We will show several TV clips (from Goodness Gracious Me to Rwina and Yallahrup) and the panel will be served questions such as: “Can immigrants laugh at themselves? What does ethnic comedy on TV mean for society? Can humour act as an icebreaker, leading to more mutual understanding?”
The following people will comment and debate: director Jan Verheyen, journalists Nadia Dala and Meryem Kanmaz, TV maker Sam De Graeve, actor Jamal Boukhriss, comedian Souad Boukhatem, Naima Charkaoui (Coordinator Minderhedenforum) and female comedian Gorcha, who was born in Kazakhstan.
