A calm, beautiful and wordless testament to fallen rebels and radicals through American history from colonial times to the present, this film consists of elegantly composed images of gravesites and public shrines. A monument to monuments and a call to arms, “Profit Motive” visits the resting places of such famed figures as Malcolm X, Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez and Eugene V. Debs, punctuating these scenes with glorious landscapes of wind blowing through the trees, exemplifying the spirits of the nation’s massacred residents. At the end what’s been left unsaid erupts to the surface.
