The Student Kick-Off is a free open-air event on the St Pietersplein in Ghent, which wants to give a festive welcome to the city’s 55,000 students – making it the student capital of Belgium. For the evening event in Vooruit’s Concertzaal the organizers of the Kick-Off, Democrazy Music Club y and Urgent.fm have joined forces. The result: a Student Kick-Off afterparty with Shameboy, Fredo and Thang and the Urgent.fm Allstars (Davy DM a.k.a. Turbopascal, Bram Willems a.k.a. Well Shaped Bushes and Juan Jose a.k.a. The Rudies.

Luuk Cox (Buscemi) and Jimmy Dewit (a.k.a. Bobby Ewing) from Shameboy recently played a convincing set at the Rock Werchter festival. Their most recent album, ‘Heartcore’ is chock-a-block with pure power beats, not for sissies!

Fredo and Thang both have a history with Uirgent.fm and Foxylane. Their DJ residencies at Culture Club and Petrol earned them sets at almost every other club and almost every festival. An ideal duo for a club evening.

Ghent city’s radio station for young folk, Urgent.fm, is an unremitting source of radio and music talent and quintessential to the promotion of Ghent pop and culture. This makes for excellent radio which is always on the ball, whether the subject is pop/rock music, youth culture, urban life, news, etc. Plenty of big-time radio presenters started their career at Urgent.frm. The Urgent.fm Allstars include current StuBru staff and members of Turbopascals and The Rudies.
