Young Ghent singer Jana De Valck and her band will transform the Vooruit Café into a sultry night boutique with flawless covers of jazz standards, bossa nova, Latin classics and a touch of soul. Swing in style and slow dance at the start of the season.
Bar d’O was founded by Jana De Valck in 2005. This jazz combo, consisting of a rhythm section, vocals and three horns, performs standards from all sorts of genres (from jazz, blues, Latin and bossa nova to slightly poppier and more soulful songs.
Jana embarked on her academic career at the Ghent conservatory (Voice – Jazz and Popular Music) in 2005. She had dreamt of studying music for many years. It was not long before she joined Garland, a band with which she performed at the Pole Pole festival, and Esrah, live music combined with programmed beats. Her love of jazz soon spawned the desire to form her own jazz combo and thus Bar d’O was born.
